Read on for full details about logistics and opportunities on Rally Day, this coming Monday.

Where Things Are Happening

What's Going On

We have a full schedule of activities, starting at 9:30 and going until 3pm. If you're coming just for the Rally, join us on the south steps of the Capitol by 11:30. Look for our PTA banner.

For up-to-the-minute updates throughout the day, and to find us if things go awry, join our Band app at band.us/@acptaadvocacy.

Where to Park

The parking lot at Pease Elementary (currently closed), located just a few blocks west of the Capitol at 1106 Rio Grande St., will be open at 7am and available for free. If you prefer to park closer, the Capitol Visitors Parking Garage at 1201 San Jacinto Blvd is free for 2 hours, $1 per half hour after that. There is also street parking around the Capitol complex for a fee.

Check in 8:30-11am

Check your Band app to find out where on the Capitol grounds we are set up for check in.

We will have your shirts (to pick up or purchase for $5), and ACPTA lanyards, as well as any last-minute instructions.

We leave from there in two groups walking together to the Student and Priority Caucuses. Please look for our signs when you're leaving the caucuses, too. They will lead you to our crew at the Rally.

What to Wear

Wear your school t-shirt or one of our ACPTA t-shirts. You can purchase one of our shirts on Rally Day as long as supplies last.

Also, make sure you're wearing comfortable shoes and please pay attention to the weather and dress appropriately.

Going Through Security

When you go in the Capitol, you will have to go through a screener, similar to the airport. The do not check IDs. You won't have to take off your shoes and you're fine bringing in food and water. They don't allow sticks (like the kind attached to signs, for example) or longish knives, I hear. I have brought in full-sized scissors dozens of times and never had a problem. They're looking for weapons. Don't bring in a weapon.

Write and Deliver Postcards

Room E2.012 will be available for you and your group to learn how to share your love for your schools and your ideas for a better future with your representatives. Make a point to stop by and learn how easy it is to make a difference. Everything you need is provided.

Share Your Day on Socials

Take pictures and videos of you and your crew throughout the day so we can all celebrate our love for our schools together. Suggested hashtags:

We Need Volunteers

It takes a village, y'all. Check out our signup genius to help us out. Would love more folks helping us with social media and a final video, in particular, but need lots of general helpers to get us through the day. All activities are divided up in to three different shifts throughout the day.

Media Room for Journalists

Room E2.022 is available for all student journalists to use to set up, store, and/or recharge your equipment. Consider this a home base for your journalistic adventures. We will have volunteers monitoring the room for safety and security.
